It was time to buy! I checked some prices online and chose the Amazon.

They confirmed that the full functionality supported both Mac and Windows. A sister product from Brother (HL-2270DW) had excellent reviews in the form of platforms, but I've been burned before assuming so I emailed Brothers sales support. My main issue was the software compatibility between OS platforms. Since the MFC-7860DW is very new, I had some questions and would like to see one in action, but I could not find any in stores. Some might think MFC-7860DW is expensive, but there are others that are much more. There are some higher caliber machines, but these were designed to more actively use and their prices reflect this. In view of these, I could not find anything that met them, and Brother MFC-7860DW. Although it is nice to have, if necessary, I had only my old multi-function fax again. I was not concerned about the fax capabilities of the machine. I was not worried about the size of the unit, as it should have its own table (although it is quite compact). * Ability to scan through the LAN and does not require direct USB * Compatibility across multiple OS platforms * Duplex: One of the issues that I do not like the InfoPrint 12 is the lack of duplex * Laser: the sharpness and consumables (my inkjet printer seemed to drink ink or dried up) These are the criteria I had in mind when choosing a product: At first I was just thinking of a stand-alone laser printers, both in terms of cost and function, but then decided to look at the multi-functional machines that I have an inkjet printer with multiple functions (only used by my work machine) that I had nothing against to remove. I have also discussed setting InfoPrint, but I was not sure what it would take, and I needed a solution now.

I want to replace a reliable IBM InfoPrint 12, who had been in use on the network (via a router with print server) for over 10 years (and only two cartridges). I have a network with both Windows (XP and 7) and Mac (10.5.8) machines on it and needed a new printer.
